Welcome. Welcome Home!
What or where is “home”?
I’ve asked myself this question many times in my life. Is “home” the cliches of “Home is where the heart is” or “Home is a state of mind”?
I found my answer today.
As a child I remember “home” as coming in from sledding in the heart of winter and the warmth from the wood burning stove wraps around you in a maternal hug, the smell of fresh baked bread, pies and goodies wafting through the house, and a quiet comfort you just can’t explain at that age.
Sound familiar? As I’ve grown I’ve tried to find a way to duplicate that feeling I had so many years ago to no avail. Why can’t I find my “home”? I often pondered.
Today I read an article in a religious magazine and as I pondered that article my answer to that age old question came.
As a child my parents created what they felt home should be for us kids. As a parent I am creating what home feels like for my kids. And as a grandparent I will create what nanna’s house feels like for my grandkids. Therefore, “home is not a state of mind, it’s an actual place where you reach new levels of maturity.
I hope I have created a home where my children can reflect back on a happy, carefree childhood and I hope to establish a home where my grandkids remember as them being my world.
Remember the Golden Rule!
